Well.. here is day two and after a rain shortened day yesterday I spent yesterday afternoon and well into the evening trying to find a way to post from my Hotel here in Haines City... I am less than 5 miles from Orlando but it is a long distance call... oh well no downloading or web crawling... just post and get the @#$% out...

Today was a little more of what is to be expected... press and TV crews were everywhere... with some of the more familiar players being interviewed and the lesser knowns hoping to be asked a question or two... the numbers though were not what I expected... they will probably increase as we get closer to the start of the spring games...

I pulled one of my old tricks... after having a 10am meeting on Monday I showered and left the ballpark... not seeing a schedule for Tuesday I assumed it would be the same... 10 am... NOT!!!! after a relaxing breakfast at Denny's. Grand Slam no less... I drove up to the parking lot at the ballpark an noticed that everybody was out in uniform and doing warm-ups and our morning conditioning... It was the fastest I have ever gotten out of my street clothes and into a uniform in 11 years of professional ball... next time RTFS... Read The F###ing Schedule...

The arm is coming along all right... I was informed this morning that I was to throw again today... considering I have'nt thrown back to back days in almost a year I was mildly impressed... nothing that a little Naprosyn won't fix...

These days will be kind of lackluster... with pitchers an catchers the only ones here it is just throwing and alot of drills... covering first, bunt plays, come-backers, all the real fun stuff... but thats what spring training is for...Once the position players get here and the scrimmages and exhibition gaems start it will get interesting...

In My Opinion...

This game of baseball is something I have played for over 25 years of my short 30 year life... I have lived, breathed and literally given up many things purely for the love of the game... never have I been running and sprint the last 100 yards thinking to myself... I can make 3 million dollars... I can only think of standing on a mound somewhere with a small white ball waiting for the batter to get into the box... This game is just that... a game... I have not forgotten the striking Major leaguers... I was one for 2 years... but I had my dream shortened by numerous injuries at unfortunate times in my 10 year career... and have one more opportunity to pick up that baseball and stand on that mound... I realize my fastball is 8 MPH slower and my slider is gone... but it is still a game... and it always will be...
