Well.. let the cold shoulders begin... I have been uncovered!!!!
All you on the 'NET have known this for about a week.. but it has taken my teammates here in Haines City 6 days to figure out that I have signed a replacement contract...
Coming in at 8:00 for blood work this morning there was a letter in all but 34 of the players lockers... these letters were for the front office to slowly wean the players into this odd spring training... The players not getting these special notes were obviously replacements... Adding to this at our respective teams later in the morning they announced the 5 players in my group need not attend this meeting tomorrow morning...This brought about a sudden chill in the warm Florida air... I for the first time in my 11 years of professional baseball... out of place on a ball field...I have given everything I could to this great game... and I needed to get my arm in shape in any way possible... And my phone was not exactly ringing off the hook... So when the Royals called and expressed an interest in me I took it.. it is for me to first get my arm in shape.. and if they are convinced I still have it... for me to make a decision on the scab games... till then... its touch and go... I am sitting on the fence... but the problem is now there is no fence for me to sit... the team has taken it out from under me!!
I threw BP today...the only problem is that I threw my curve ball for strikes better than my fastball... what gives... I guess I had better get used to it...It's early though... that is wht I am here for... to get my shoulder in to pitching shape.
