Today was full of some promise... at least from my stand point...
I threw for about 18 minutes... 10 to hitters and actually had some good stuff... command was very good. movement and breaking stuff was sharp.
I played in a golf tounry this afternoon. It was supposed to be for the Major leaguers and a bunch of guests...
I was paired with 3 guests... 2 could play golf.. the third played like he had never heard of it...
I usually play to about a 9 handicap and played very well today... At one point I basically eagled one hole all to myself...In a scamble you take the best shot of the four people and then all rehit from that spot... well we took my drive... then my 7 iron to about 7 feet on a par 5... then hitting fourth.. took my putt for the eagle... problem is we mixed in too many pars... and finished 5th overall.. that won out foursome an ll expense paid trip to 7-11 for a round of Big Gulps... in a nutshell.. we got NOTHING!!!. but that was not what we were out there for...
I spoke with Bob Boone for about 10 minutes this afternoon... he mad ea point to come over and talk to me at the driving range... There are some great men in baseball... George Brett, Mickey Mantle, to name a few... good men on the field and off.. and Bob Boone is one of those men... We talked about how I threw today... he had heard I had a good outing and was glad to hear that... He just talked about how he thought the union might loosen up on the minor leaguers and spring games... He also thought each player had his own specific reason for being here.. and he understood mine circumstances... and was looking forward to seeing me throw this spring...
