With the spring exhibition games closing in on us the team has started to ask some of the minor leaguers to participate... Dennis Rasmussen is the starter in the forst spring game.. he is a strong union backer and since this game has no admission it will not keep him from pitching...

I just got done watching ESPN here and they said the union and the owners had a good day of meetings... great... I would love for this thing to end now... I would be sent to the minor leagues and make 1/3 what I would here as a replacement...

I have some mixed feeling here... and would like to get some input on it...

If you own a business and stick your neck out financially... you should be the one to reap the benefits... not your employees...The ballplayers are already getting 58% of the share of revenues.

I am all for a structured pay scale of some sort...

how about this for starters...

100,000 first year rookie
200,000 sencond
300,000 third
400,000 and so on till you have a ten year vet getting 1,000,000

this is where it gets interesting...

they would be paid incentives for winning various awards and also players would get cash incentives for being in higher positions in things liek ERA, Holds, Saves, Home Runs...

this is a very simplified version...You would have to break down this into maybe HR's per 100 at bats or RBI's per at bat... this would have to have a minimun number attached to each stat... but could make each year a salary drive and would make these guys really go get it for a whole season and without multi year contracts.. .it would save the onwers from 5 year contracts that are worthless 2 years after they give them out from a player that is hurt or not producing...

give me some input on this one....
