June 4, 1995

I spent the day in PingTung shopping and returning the MPEG board I bought earlier in the week... I thought it would be nice to see my games and edit it so it was just my throwing and be able to stop it and go over my mechanics... but it would not run under windows... and I needed that to cut and paste the footage... there was an address conflict because of the fact I have 32meg of memory...the dialog box stated that 'You have 32 meg of ram... This will only run on machines with 16 or less megabytes of ram ... Too bad... I wanted to keep it... but I will have to wait for the Software CODEC for my Stealth Video VRAM to come out... with a P5-100 I think I could give a few cycles to decoding... they also plan on releasing a hardware add-on daughter-card...that will be great but when?!!!

If anybody that reads this knows anything about software MPEG e-mail me... I really would like to edit my CD-ROM and save my edited footage to a QIC-tape and send it down to the CD place for a quick master... now that I think about it I could make my own custom music CD's... nah! too much time and work to copy each song to disk and then edit...OF all the extras this thing has it is missing a huge 2 gig SCSI HD... for NT to just run around on... that will be next... that would allow me to use the 540 meg EIDE for C: and DOS/WINDOWS and possibly Windows '95 if it ever comes out...

I would gladly trade the two 330 meg IDE drives and some cash in for a nice new SCSI 1.2 gig, but then I would have to buy some new super-hot SCSI -PCI controller and that would set me back even more... It never ends... but the life of a Power User never rests... gotta have the newest the fastest and the best... at all costs... YEah right... or until the wife sees the Visa bill or you run out of cash!!!

We are supposed to get the remains of Typhoon Deanna, Monday afternoon... might be interesting...

later...
