Today they put all us scabs in our own little group...
With a steady rain all night and into this morning they had our rain schedule out for today... pitchers get their work in the tunnels and then the hitters take BP in the hitting tunnels...
We (the scabs) the pitchers all had a nice little refresher course in PFP 101 thats Pitchers Fielding Practice... with Bruce Kison... He is a good guy but needs to remember that we are basically made up of aging vets and not american legion throw backs... he was a little too general in his instructions to us... but then he is as new to this replacement thing as we are...He did something in 11 years I have never seen a pitching coach do... when we would do our bunt coverage drills we would actually throw the ball into home plate and he would bunt it down the line for us to field and make a play on... he had some balls thats for sure... there are some sore arms after this forst 8 days... and he just stood in there and bunted away... He's got pretty good BC for a former pitcher. BC= Bat Control
We also have replacement umpires... this is going to really suck!!! I never really liked an umpire but there were some darned funny ones in the major leagues... it will be very interesting to see how these replacements umpire in spring training...
We play Stetson College tomorrow in Haines City.. I have been named on the pitching roster... this means I might get in. it depends on how well Dennis Rasmussen throws and the next 2 or 3 guys fare... then I will get a frame or two...
The arm is coming along nicely... I can feel it getting stronger but I am still a tad apprehensive about throwing hard just yet.. I like the idea of letting the hitters get themselves out... My legs have finally gotten into shape... I was waiting for this day... I t usually is in the first week.. but being sick really knocked me out for 2 or 3 days... and I have gotten my legs back... could really help my fastball tomorrow or whenever I get in their...
