March 12, 1995

Sorry about the 10th and the 11th... had the wife in town and needed to make her feel like I actually missed her... ;)

I will just go straight to Sunday... Friday was just a scrimmage... we were scheduled to play the Orioles and they are against playing against replacements... so no gme!!! and Saturday I had off, The tean travelled to West Palm Beach and lost a close one... 5-4.

Today we really had it firing on all cylinders...Kevin Brown threw 4 superb innings and gave up only a first inning run on a couple of bad pitches... then settled down and walked through their line-up... then followed Richey Simon who I knew while with the Astros back in 91 and 92... Then Bo Kenndey a righty threw a scoreless 7th and I had the 8th... A new guy threw the 9th... by then we were up 9-1 and would have used Mike Browning if it were closer, but Booney opted for the new guy to get his feet wet...

My 1 inning consisted of 2 lefties and a righty... they are more concerned about me getting out the lefties... and I did just that... the first batter I face was left-handed and It took me 3 pitches to get him to pop to center weakly... then a right hander who I started off with a fast-ball away and then came in with a heater... it was in but not where Jamie Nelson wanted it.. I asked jamie if it was whee he wanted it after the batter popped up to right and he said 'hell no he just had a slow bat!!! I just stood there... so much for a catcher to help a guys ego... seriously he just watned it more inside... it was the inner 1/3 and he wanted it on the corner or miss inside...The last guy was a big lefty first-baseman who I started off iwth a real good curveball and then a good fastball away and he hit a weak groundball to second for the 3rd out... all in all i felt really good... one of the coaches asked me why I retired last year...All I could say is that nobody was interested in a 29 year old guy with arm problems... He said if I can keep up this performance level I would be stupid to leave the game...even after the strike... I am throwing 81-84 mph with a good tight curveball and decent control... lefties are always in need and I will have to find a niche of getting out lefthanders and settle for that...

There should be no more missed reports... If I make it to opening day in Detroit I will see her then....

Would you people reading this like me to keep the report going during the season??? or if the strike ends While I am in the minor leagues... since I plan on continuing this trek to play some more pro ball???

let me know...
