Well make it four in a row!!!
The Replacement Royals have won again... and yours truly has vultured another win!
The atmosphere in camp has really lightened up. Everyone know that in the next 24-48 hours the squad will be announced... and the guys taht are on the 'bubble' are kinda nervous but the laughter and jokes keep coming... I think it keeps you from thinking about what you could call Black Wednesday or whatever day they start letting guys go...
There is a list of things to remember for the guys travelling north... it does'nt say WHO is going just to remember these things... one is a note about people with cars here. you are not allowed to drive up.. you must travel with the team to Atlanta on the 31.. so there is alittle note that says on Thursday the 24 a list will be compiled of the guys that need this service.. well if that does'nt tell you when they will have the roster set then I don't know when...
One of the players requested a certain pitcher to be room-mates on the road and he ws told by the travleing secretary that he should pick someone else... WOW!!! It hit hard...
I have been in that situation and am in it this spring... I have taken absolutely nothing for granted... and will continue to do so... You have guys that have been on the shelf all spring (hurt) and I sympathize for them.. All you have to do is look at my career stats and you can see that I spent about 35-40% of my 11 years in the training room... so to have a healthy (so far) spring training, as I am this one. I am counting my lucky starts... er stars...
Well we won another one and did it in great fashion...
Kevin Brown threw the first 3 and had to leave the game after being hit in the shin with a line drive in the second.. he made it one more inning but had to get out...Ed Jurak, led off the game with a solo home run and played 5 great innings before being given the rest of the day off... I threw the 8th with the score tied 2-2.. I felt good. having two days off really helps you! I had a lefty that I started off with a good fastball and then tried to get one in on him 0-1. he tried to pull a bunt up the first base line.. but I pounced on it and threw him out for the first out...The second batter was a righty and my heart was still racing a little from the bunt play and I fell behind 0-2 and I just threw him my best fastball for him to hit... he hit it good but well short of the warning track...and the third hitter I started off with a curve for a ball .. then a good fastball away and a curve just out of the strike zone that got him on his front foot for a pop to right... all in all it was a good inning... but more than that it allowed us to get back into the dug-out... we had tied the game in the 7th with a run and I had a quick inning... that gave our hitters a kick start... we came out and scored 3 runs... 2 scored on a pinch hit by Maclin. Pat Perry then pitched the 9th for his second save in as many appearances...
just to remind you all
