March 27, 1995

Well my one start came and went... Not much to tell.. but will give it a good effort...

I did'nt realize how long it had been since I had started a ballgame... I remember starting 6 games in July back in AAA in 1991... that was the last time I was given the ball...

I could'nt find something to take up my time... I knew it was just a token start but I wanted to get something out of it... and I certainly did that... I warmed up quick but never really found a rhythm in warm-ups... and took the mound all out of synch...I was trying to keep my fastball down in the strike zone and had one hell of a time doing that!... my curve ball was good and had decent command of it..but I walked one in the first and had a strike out and then struck out two in my second inning but also walked two... I was up in the strike zone all day.. and just scrambled to get through my 2 innings.... I guess those are the days you just file away and try to get better... Everyone is expected to have those once in a while... I just know inside I have more in me...

That brings me to a point I have made in earlier posts.. I have progressed to a point where my 'stuff' is good... and I need to stop pushing myself so hard. early in camp I was trying to get it in shape... now that it is... I need to start making quality pitches... instead of trying to throw a 'little' bit harder each time out and see how it feels the next day...I did just that today.. and it hurt me... I have good stuff and need to realize that and go out there with condfidence in it... not try to improve on it pitch to pitch... just go out with what I have that day and go to battle...

All told I threw 2 scoreless innings... with 3 strike outs 3 walks 1 hit and 0 runs.. not all that bad... just a little wild at times...

Bo Kennedy, who has had a great spring training threw 3 scoreless after me... and Mark Huisman threw the 6th and got into trouble in the 7th I was leaving the ballpark and saw a 5 spot in the 7th... not sure if he gave up all of them but he obviously struggled... So we were doen 5-1 after 7 that is all I have for the game...

I have sold my 486DX2-66 and MB with 20 meg memory... I am keeping the CD-ROM,sound card.hard drives and monitor... and have found a great deal on a P5-100 and MB in a mid-tower case... all I have to do is put it all together...

Anyway I will be without a way to post for at least 5 days... I have to send the guts of my old 'puter on the 28th or tomorrow...I plan on finding a laptop to rent or lease in KC when we get there after the Detroit series... I plan on finding one on the day off.. the 6th I think...

Anybody in the KC area... is there a computer rental shop I could call before I get there? if anybody knows of one.. let me in on it...

thanks
